His interest is focused mainly on creation of fixed blade hunting knives, more specifically historical bowie knives, but indeed Simone is able to realize various types of knives based on the inspiration of the moment.
His works, produced by stock removal, are followed by Simone during every stage, including heat treatment. The preferred materials used for the blades are mainly the 1070, 1095, o2, steels, but also K600 and w1; while for the handles Simone prefers natural materials such as seasoned or stabilized wood, deer antlers and bone.
Simone's humility is really admirable; he said to us that he still has some way to go to reach the levels of achievement that he wants, but we think that this way of dealing with his growth path is already a good starting point, because, as Claude Bernard wrote, "It 's what we think that we already know that prevents us from learning new things."
We think that Simone's path to knife making will be definitely easier thanks to his awareness that he must still learns and keep an open mind to experimentation; he is already proving to have all the credentials to become a good knife maker.
