Gough Aaron

19 April 2015 Author :

Aaron Gough started making knives when he was 14 years old, but he was too young at that time to really give the attention that knife making deserved, so after a while it got put aside while he explored other passions.

Many years later knives were still something he thought about constantly, so he decided to revisit knife making.
He makes knives using the stock removal method, and currently focus mainly on hard-use knives for camping and hunting. He said to us that he love seeing customers use his knives all over the world.
Aaron's main model, at the moment, is the Resolute. It's designed as a high performance working knife, made in A2 steel. He did a lot of testing before deciding which steel to use in his knives, and he finally chose A2 Tool Steel because of its extraordinary toughness. Even at high hardness A2 allows him to make thin blades so they cut well, while still retaining enough strength to deal with rougher tasks.

Aaron's design philosophy is to make one design of knife for each purpose, and to continually tweak that design to make it the best he can. Right now he produces two different models, but next year he plans on expanding into making kitchen knives and folding knives.
Aaron likes define his knives with four words: beautiful, strong, functional and durable.
