ZT0230

Light, elegant and with simple lines: ZT0230 is the first slip joint knife produced by Zero Tolerance designed by Jens Anso.

The US company from Tualatin, Oregon, known for the use of high-end steels and materials, is not new to collaborations with important designer. With the 0230 model, ZT leaves their usual tactical-oriented knives, proposing a production version of Jens Anso's MonteCarlo custom knife.

To catch the attention on this new model is the stonewashed blade: 66 mm long, 3 mm thick, and with a sheepsfoot profile that immediately places the ZT0230 as classic EDC. The steel used is the CPM-20CV stainless steel which offers excellent cutting performances.

The ZT logo is placed on the blade spine, leaving the blade as clean as possible, except for the right side where we find the designer name, the serial number and the steel used. The full flat grind completes this research of simplicity. The blade opening occurs through the nail mark on the left side of the blade.

The ZT 0230 – as previous mentioned - has not a locking mechanism, but it features a double detent system (to keep the blade safely closed for carrying), plus a second detent at the half-open position to ensure a controlled open and close.
The handle is made up of two carbon fiber scales that make the knife incredibly light. A touch of color is given by the blue anodized aluminum backspacer, that features also an integrated lanyard hole. The knife doesn't feature a pocket clip, that anyway wouldn't get along with the classic design of this model.

The retail price of this little gem is around 225 € in Europe, and around $180 in USA.

We tested the blade cutting edge quality of the ZT0230 on different materials, such as cardboard and various ropes, without finding any uncertainty in its performance; the factory sharpening is excellent, as usual when it comes to Zero Tolerance.

In conclusion, the ZT0230 is perfect for those looking for a classic knife made with modern materials and ZT quality. The small size makes it disappear in your pocket and the carbon fiber handle further reduces its weight. All in all, the presence of a dedicated sheath would be a nice carry solution.
