Mcusta Tactility Elite

Elegant and with attention to detail, the new MC-12 Tactility Elite series by Mcusta is renewed in the materials without abandoning the style that distinguishes the Japanese company.

The Mcusta company (acronym of Machine Custom) from Seki, stands out for the particular attention in the production of their knives, combining processes with the latest generation machinery with craftsmanship.

The MC-12 Tactility Elite series is certainly known to funs and collectors of the Japanese brand and now the new version available uses the SPG2 San Mai steel as blade opening system, it features a thumb hole instead of the thumb-stud of the older version.

The blade, 93 mm long and 3 mm thick, has a drop point profile and is characterized by a swedge that makes its shape more aggressive.

The protagonist of this new series is the SPG2 steel, produced by Takefu Special Steel Co. . Super Gold 2 is a three-layer sintered steel (clad steel); this process confers good cutting performances, resistance to corrosion and resilience. Following the primary bevel, it's clearly evident the line of conjunction of the internal layer (Core Steel hardened to 61-62 HRC), that confers the blade, among other things, a pleasant visual impact. The blade plane has an hammered pattern according to the traditional Tsuchime method which, contrasting with the satin finish of the blade, further characterize its appearance.

The blade opening of the blade is manual and takes place through the semicircular thumb-hole; blade rotation is smooth since the first use. The locking mechanism is of the liner-lock type.

The handle consists of two steel folders to which the white Corian scales are applied by means of small torx screws. DuPontTM Corian® is a solid - non-porous - material, composed for 1/3 of acrylic resin (polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA) and 2/3 of natural minerals consisting mainly of aluminum trihydrate (ATH), a mineral obtained from bauxite with which aluminum is produced. The size of the handle and the particular texturing of the scales, ensure easy handling and grip to the instrument. The Tactility Elite knife doesn't have a lanyard hole.

As an alternative to Corian, black micarta and desert ironwood are available. The removable steel pocket clip is fixed at the bottom of the handle by two Torx screws, and it ensures a good retention; the deep carry solution allows a more discreet knife carry, that literally disappears in the pocket.

Mcusta's Tactility Elite satisfies both aesthetically and functionally; its ideal size makes it usable for both small and large hands. The value for money, given the materials used and the quality of the product, are pretty good. The realization is very accurate and the sharpness is excellent.
